While sandplay therapy appears very simple on the surface, it is deceptively complex and powerful. For this reason training to practice sandplay is intended for licensed mental health professionals, and for graduate & post graduate students on a licensing track.
A foundational part of training is to undergo your own personal sandplay process with a Certified Sandplay Therapist - CST. These are sandplay professionals who have met the requirements to practice established by the International Society for Sandplay Therapy - ISST & The Sandplay Therapists of America - STA. You may review these requirements on the STA website.
Along with sandplay coursework, training involves consultation with a CST on your own sandplay case work from your practice.
